The year 2009 heralded in an abundance of new technology. While most of us probably still have our fingers crossed for the hover cars and robot slaves we were promised in the 80’s, more than enough gadgets and gizmos came out this year to keep us (and our thumbs) busy.
Take for example the Wacom Cintiq 12WX tablet – an item that’s bound to be at the top of your artsy friend or savvy Graphic Designer’s wish list this year. This item is neat because it enables the user to work directly on-screen to edit photos or other art projects with an impressive degree of realistic pressure sensitivity.
Speaking of photos, how about the Sony Ericsson C905? This little guy not only works well as a cell phone, it takes pictures up to 8 megapixels in size. Two years ago, 8 megapixels was pretty impressive for a digital camera, and is still nothing to sniff at. Now you can snap those high quality photos with the cell phone you probably already feel obligated to take everywhere you go.

You also might want to check out the PoGo by Polaroid, an inkless portable mini-photo printer. It connects via USB cable to your digital camera, or even to your cell phone using Bluetooth. What you get are super awesome little 2” x 3” sticker photos. And did we mention it’s inkless?
If showing off the most compact gadget in the office is your fancy, look no further than the Spiga. It’s currently the world’s smallest laptop, and boasts a full keyboard and touch screen with stylus.
Still hoping for something straight out of Star Trek? Take comfort in the fact we’re at least getting closer. We’ve heard rumors that NASA is developing the first available Tricorder – as an attachment for the iPhone. If you haven’t already, you might want to invest in one of those. Because lets face it, that’s pretty cool.
